You’re invited to an in-person event exploring Australia’s productivity crisis, one of the country’s most urgent economic issues.

Join Stephen Walters, Chief Economist, Optimal Economics, and Peter Achterstraat AM FAICDLife, NSW Productivity and Equality Commissioner, as they explore why productivity in Australia has declined, what are the implications and what we may be able to do to fix it and what role the Australian Productivity Summit in Canberra, taking place the following week may play in shaping national solutions.

Time: Arrive at 12:00pm for a 12:30pm start. The event will conclude by 1:30pm (Lunch provided)

Location: Chartered Accountants ANZ, Level 1, 33 Erskine St, Sydney NSW 2000

This session will include:

  • A high-level overview of Australia’s recent poor productivity performance and why it matters
  • Analysis of some of the key causes including: lack of investment, high regulatory barriers, poor labour mobility and more
  • A national lens on potential solutions, drawing from Peter’s experience as NSW Productivity and Equality Commissioner

This event is perfectly timed ahead of the summit, which will be held the following week at Parliament House. National leaders from Treasury, the Reserve Bank, business groups, unions, civil society and more will gather to address these very issues.

There will be a Q&A session at the end, so please come prepared with your questions.

We hope you can join us for what is expected to be a timely and insightful event.
